THERAGAMES : ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Robyn Hromek is a practicing educational psychologist working for a government school system in Australia. She has extensive experience working with children, young people, parents and teachers of students from kindergarten to year 12. She is also an experienced primary school teacher. Her career in education began in 1983 and covers a wide range of educational settings, including inner city schools, rural settings, special education (emotional and learning difficulties), distance education and gifted and talented students.

Robyn has a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Newcastle, NSW for which she produced a research thesis titled The Development and Evaluation of a Peer-based Program to Reduce Harassment among School Students.

While her work as an educational psychologist covers a wide range of educational issues, she has developed her expertise in the emotional and social development of children. The philosophy which underlies her work is that children are a work in progress and that they learn most by watching us, the adults around them. She draws from the ideas of Vygotsky, Bandura, Goldman and Goldstein to produce innovative and experiential strategies that readily engage children in the process of becoming the best they may be.
